Creating your bespoke jewellery with Sweet Rosie

People like to feel involved in the process when it comes to a special piece of jewellery. They may have a design in mind that they haven’t quite found elsewhere, or just want something different to what they’ve seen in the shops.

REMODEL OLD JEWELLERY

It’s very common for me to get commissions from customers who have their own materials, a sentimental ring or jewellery that they’d like made into something more their style.

This is known as remodelling: I take old pieces of jewellery, remove the stones and melt the metal together to make something completely new for you.

You can use any type of gold jewellery: odd earrings, broken chains, tarnished pieces; anything as long as it’s genuine gold and can be melted down and made new.

The sentiment of the jewellery remains because it’s the same gold. You may have changed the design to suit your style, but being able to actually wear it rather than it sitting in a drawer unused means that you can have that person close to you every day, and you can pass that jewellery onto other loved ones.

IS IT EXPENSIVE?

You probably think that having a bespoke piece of jewellery made is way too expensive, but generally my customers are surprised at the price.

Most of the time, the expense comes from buying gold or diamonds but if these have been provided, then that cost is gone completely. It’s a great saving if you can provide some of the materials.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

First of all, we’d have a chat face-to-face or via phone or Zoom to find out roughly what you’re looking for. I always have a head full of ideas so don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what you want straight away.

Most of the time, we start with a small idea and build out from that.

From agreeing a design, it’s normally about six to eight weeks before you’ll get the finished product (although busier times like Christmas can take a bit longer).
